(¿1893/94?, Smilovichi, cerca de Minsk, Imperio ruso–9 ago. 1943, París, Francia).

Pintor francés de origen ruso. Luego de estudiar arte en Vilna, se trasladó a París en 1913 para estudiar en la école des Beaux-Arts. Gracias a un comerciante de arte, pudo pintar durante tres años en Francia, país donde consolidó su estilo. Este, marcadamente personal y estimulado por el expresionismo, se caracteriza por el empaste grueso, una pincelada inquieta, convulsivos ritmos de composición y un contenido psicológico inquietante. Son sobre todo conocidos sus estudios sobre niños cantores, cocineros, las series de niños paje, las pinturas de aves colgadas y sus esqueletos de vacuno, que transmiten vívidamente el color y la luminosidad de la putrefacción.
